Restaurant & Bakery were reasonably priced. The store portion had some high dollar designs but those designed by Ree and her team most likely. That said there were plenty of reasonably priced items. Taking into consideration that this is essentially a "GIFT SHOP" for a restaurant, that sells baking/cooking items. Fun atmosphere we waited about 15-20 min in line for lunch. 3-5 min in line for the bakery. The day we went was on a Monday morning around 930AM. Shopped around and then got in line for lunch just before 11AM. FYI they have heaters along the sidewalk area where you wait in line for the cold season.
The wait staff was friendly and efficient. The food was wonderful! I had the pork chops, 2 cooked to perfection with gravy. The country potatoes had big pieces of bacon and also tasted like they had been fried in bacon grease. There is no such thing as too much bacon.
I didn't care for the salad, but view lettuce as nasty green stuff, so I can't fault them for that. The ranch dressing was good to dip the cherry tomatoes into.
The Mercantile has added life in downtown Pawhuska, this was a fun girl day trip. Wear comfortable shoes and explore.
Terrific meal at a reasonable price. The wait to be seated was long and very hot, since you wait outside. BUT the staff provided seats for the infirm (me), ice water and sun umbrellas for all who wanted them and updates on the time to be seated. Inside was cool and clean, waitstaff is very familiar with the menu and ingredients used and actually just charming, Ladd and Ree and her brother Mike made some table stops (surely that doesn't always happen--we were lucky). The food and the shop (pricier than the food) are definitely worth a detour, and we intend to visit again. All the baked goods are absolutely scrumptious--wish they did delivery!
We got there a bit before noon. There was a line, but there were the outside heaters. We weren't in line very long, before we were seated.
I brought a pork chop home with some potatoes. Yummy lunch planned for tomorrow.
It is worth the drive to Pawhuska.
Easy to find and thank goodness for the large parking lot across the street, that was one less headache in a crowd of people.Beautiful building filled with lots of lovely items. My advise is to get to the store as EARLY as possible, breakfast starts at 7AM. Or maybe right before they close? Dining room is tiny when you consider how many people are shuffled through the doors for sit down food. Lunch lines on Tuesday were immediately wrapped around the building and pretty much stayed that wait for entire visit -be ready to wait. The deli /bakery upstairs was empty and quite in comparison to the dining room and line was WAY shorter. As far as food taste goes the Cowboy Breakfast was yummy & delightful, the Egg in a Hole plate was HUGE and full of food. The French Toast Croissant we took a bite or two of and left on the table (skip it). The egg wash was barely on the outside making it crunchy, NO flavor on the inside at all, a few berries as garnish the roll was soaked in juice made the bottom soggy. I wouldn't recommend this entree.
Loved, loved this spot. We had breakfast first.....the Crunchy Croissant French Toast was incredibly the best I ever tasted! So good I scoured her cookbooks in the store section to find the recipe and bought her newest book that had a similar recipe printed in it. Have made it at home with Texas Toast and it's just as delicious. The shop in The Mercantile was so fun. It was the highlight of my trip to Oklahoma. Love Ree Drummond!
